Christmas, Jan, Feb, & March

Hello again! Here is a summary of our last few months. In December, after the excitement of Jason's birthday, we had a quiet calm Christmas. I worked the 23rd and 24th, but we were able to make it to the Christmas Eve service at church. On Christmas we skyped our families and visited our friend's chinchilla (they were gone for the week). We read the Christmas story about Jesus, and Jason played with his plastic nativity scene. He especially liked Mary, and he liked to throw her down the stairs. Joe made a new song: "Mary did you know, that a baby boy, would throw you down the stairs?" Joe's mom came to visit on the 27th. It was great to have her here and spend time with Jason. She babysat a few times, so went on a bowling date and to a New Year's Eve party. We took her to Caribou and out for Mexican food! It was neat to see Jason sit in her lap when she read to him. He loved a book about dogs!

We started off the new year by finding out that I am pregnant! Everything is going fine and the estimated due date is September 14th. We had the 3 new couples in our Small Group over for dinner, which we had been wanting to do for awhile. They are really neat couples. I started a 12 week spinning class on Thursdays at 6AM. Jason played outside a few times, but had trouble walking in his boots, and he didn't think standing there was very fun. He also hates wearing mittens. He had a cough for a little over a week, but he was fine. Jason also learned to hide Mary from his nativity scene and then find her - fun!
In February, we got to see our baby via ultrasound - at least they said that tiny dot was a baby... Jason started doing some sign language that we had been trying to teach him for awhile. He learned milk, all done, and more! We were delighted! Jason also said socks and maybe dog and duck - sort of
My mom visited at the end of February. We left Jason overnight for the first time and had a nice time in Minneapolis. We both had colds, which stunk, but we did a little shopping and eating out - some pretty special friends even treated us to a meal at the Melting Pot, so we had the fun fondue experience! We had the other two couples in our Bible study over for dinner; they are such good friends. I had a Frugal Club meeting where we sewed reusable sandwich bags

We celebrated my mom's birthday, since she was still here on March 3rd. We went to Denny's, Noodles, Caribou, and Dunn Bros for all her free food goodies
I went to a women's movie night at church with all the girls in Bible study and enjoyed "Beyond the Blackboard." It was surprisingly warm this month, so we have enjoyed being outside. Jason likes to walk up and down the sidewalks in our neighborhood and touch mail boxes and fire hydrants. We took him on his first bike ride, but it was cut short when Joe's bike broke... It is fixed now, so we will try again soon! We had a fun Pi day social with our Bible study - pizza pie, shepherds pie, quiche, apple, cherry, and peach raspberry pie. Yumm! Joe built a new computer too, so he has been playing with that. He made it into a DVR, which is handy when his work is crazy busy and basketball is on TV. We just started a new study called Love and War so we are looking forward to that and it will hopefully strengthen our marriage!

Jason is now one year old! We had a big party with two of his one year old friends, and around twenty of his "big" friends, including one set of grandparents (Jenny's parents). He enjoyed his cupcake and frosting, and he really liked everyone singing him happy birthday! I played 9 games of Uno with the guys who came. Jason skyped with my parents and Aunt Karin and Uncle Ben in the morning.
Jason is now 31.3 inches tall (normal size for a two year old...) and 23.3 pounds (pretty average). He has started walking, which is fun to see. He can't stand up without help, so he usually pulls up on something, walks until he falls down, and then has to find somewhere to pull up again. It is absolutely amazing to see a newborn who can't do anything except cry and suck, progress to learning how to walk.

Well, summer is winding down, which isn't a bad thing as September is my favorite month of the year. I prefer highs in the 60s and 70s, football season is beginning, and the craziness of August is over.
This will be a more serious post than usual as I attended two funerals in the last two months.
