Uno!

Jason is now one year old! We had a big party with two of his one year old friends, and around twenty of his "big" friends, including one set of grandparents (Jenny's parents). He enjoyed his cupcake and frosting, and he really liked everyone singing him happy birthday! I played 9 games of Uno with the guys who came. Jason skyped with my parents and Aunt Karin and Uncle Ben in the morning.

Jason is now 31.3 inches tall (normal size for a two year old...) and 23.3 pounds (pretty average). He has started walking, which is fun to see. He can't stand up without help, so he usually pulls up on something, walks until he falls down, and then has to find somewhere to pull up again. It is absolutely amazing to see a newborn who can't do anything except cry and suck, progress to learning how to walk.

2 Funerals, an Anniversary and a Birthday

Well, summer is winding down, which isn't a bad thing as September is my favorite month of the year. I prefer highs in the 60s and 70s, football season is beginning, and the craziness of August is over.

This will be a more serious post than usual as I attended two funerals in the last two months.

Well, we are behind on updates...so it will be just the highlights!

March

• Jenny's mom and sister came for spring break!  We went to WI too.
• The day after they left, we drove to Ohio.  Jason did not like his carseat after 5 hours so it was a long trip.  We felt so bad since he was crying a lot!  Doug had a nice meal for us on the way, so that was a much needed break.  We had a nice time there.  Jason loved meeting his grandpa and uncle too.

April

• We drove back from Ohio and saw Joe's grandpa in the hospital in IL.
• Joe took Jason to a friends house to play games when Jenny worked.
• Picked up litter for "Litter Bit Better"
• Jenny and Jason went on a lot of walks.
• Jenny went to Flamingo Bingo for Jill's birthday.
• We took a meal to friends and had some friends over for dinner.
• Jenny had some competancies at work so Kristy babysat Jason for a few hours.

May

• Jenny and Jason went on a walk with our neighbor and went to a close Mexican food store.
• got free carpet for our under the stairs closet from friends
• Aimee and Jenny babysat Jackson and Jason
• Jenny went to garage sales with Beth and the babies
• Jenny's parents came the 16-23rd.  We planted a garden, played disc golf, walked around Oxbow Zoo.
• Jason started solid food!
• For Memorial Day - a walk, yard work, steak, and a movie.

June

• Jenny went on a walk with 3 moms and 6 kids - all were girls, except for Jason!
• Chris and Kelly stopped by - surprise!!
• We drove to South Dakota on the 16th and saw the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, and Custer State park.
• Drove to CO and saw Sarah & Tegan, Mark & Mel, and then Jenny's family.  Went on a hike to Williams canyon.  Jenny got a massage!  We played games.  Drove home all day and arrived at 1:30AM!
• Jenny floated 2 evenings in row at work.
• Jason became Mr. Roly Poly!
• Picked strawberries with coworkers.
• Learned how to can.
• Grandma Connie came on the 30th!

July

• Went strawberry picking with Connie.
• Went to the farmers market.
• Had a casual baby shower for Kelly.
• We bought new workout shoes, now we just need to workout...
• Made $41 at a garage sale!  Helped us clean out some junk.
• Dave & John came on the 9th.  We went to Red Robin for burgers.
• Celebrated Joe & John's birthdays with cheese cake, pie, and games.
• Picked raspberries.
• Played Settlers.
• Jason met Jenny's aunt and uncle.
• Jason sat up unassisted on the 15th.
• We went to Cheap Charlies.  It rained a ton!
• Joe's family left on the 16th - very early.
• Joe removed pews at church since they are getting new seating.
