Merry Christmas!

Hi there internet friends/family, Joe and I haven't updated this for a while so thought I would now. We are looking forward to a no plans weekend but I'm sure we'll or I'll find something we should do
We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and celebrated Jesus. We are thankful for Him everyday, but Christmas is a good day to be extra thankful that He was born here so He could die for us and our salvation.
We got to go to our Christmas Eve service at church on Wednesday and then had a nice time with two couples from our Bible study for a meal and games. Thursday we opened some gifts that our generous families and friends mailed to us, had Christmas omelets (red and green peppers) and coffee, talked to our families on the phone/skype, made a big linner (lunch/dinner) - mashed potatoes and gravy, ribeye steak on the grill, rolls, and apple pie, Jenny went ice skating and Joe was shoe skating on the rink in the park in our backyard and we went sledding down a little but fast hill. Although we weren't with our familes I'm so glad that Joe is my family and I thought it was just a sweet day with him! Two gifts that he got me that were especially thoughtful: 1) was a song he downloaded for me on my IPOD (I don't know how to do it) and then played for our wake up song Christmas morning and 2) a book The Love Dare that they used in Fireproof the movie so I'm excited to dare each other do the 40 activities for each other.
Some highlights in November & December:
- Operation Christmas Child with our Bible study group
- Joe started IBM league basketball
- Kristy and I drove to Nashville, TN to see our friend Lea and stopped on the way to see Doug (Joe's friend) and John (Joe's brother)
- We started working out more regularly
- We went to Larry & Sandy's house for Thanksgiving - they were so nice to invite us over for a good meal and then games - we learned how to play Golf
- We visited my Grandma and Uncle in Wisconsin, Joe helped Grandma pick out a HD TV and I helped decorate her house for Christmas
- We house sat for our friends and fed their chinchilla, Gus
- Our usual marriage meeting is at a coffee place, but Dec. 1st we went out for pizza instead!
- Rang bells for Salvation Army
- Small group Bible study leaders at church had an appetizer & game night - we played Whist and I got a prize for being the lowest scoring girl...
- We had a progressive dinner/white elephant gift exchange with some couples from church and got good gifts and got rid of some of our junk - sorry Ben & Jaime!
- We got together with Daniel & Heather a few times for meals, games, cookie baking, and scrapbooking (Heather and I only on the last two activities)
- We pushed the Taurus out of a snow bank
- We both got new free cell phones with our plans so that was a nice surprise
- Shoveled at least 1.5 feet of snow so far this winter, although some of it melted today = I have soaking wet shoes/socks/pants after running outside!
- We did some updates in our bedroom - door knobs, curtains, light fixture, shelves, and hung things up on the wall - thankfully Joe is a handy man!
